About your information
Privacy Policy.
How we handle the information you put in Kithr.
Effective date: 3 October 2026
1. About Kithr
Kithr is an app for remembering the people in your life, the details that matter to them and the moments you share.
Kithr is operated by Matthew Adams, a sole trader based in Scotland, United Kingdom, trading as Kithr. Where applicable under UK data protection law, Matthew Adams trading as Kithr is the data controller for personal information that Kithr itself receives.
Kithr has been designed to minimise the amount of your personal information that reaches us. There is no Kithr account or Kithr-operated cloud database containing the people, memories and other information you store in the app.
You can contact us about privacy at privacy@kithr.app.
2. Information you keep in Kithr
Kithr lets you keep information about people in your life. This may include names, photos, birthdays, contact details, relationships, groups, locations, favourites, memories, notes and other details you choose to record.
This information belongs to you and is stored as part of your Kithr data. In normal operation, Kithr's operator cannot see or access this content.
Kithr does not specifically ask you to record sensitive information such as health information, religious beliefs, political opinions, sexual orientation or financial information. Because Kithr includes free-form memories, notes and details, you could choose to enter information of this kind.
Please be thoughtful about the information you record about other people, particularly sensitive or private information, and only keep information you have an appropriate reason to record.
3. Local storage and iCloud
Kithr is designed to be local-first. Your Kithr data is stored on your device and the app can work with locally stored information when offline.
Kithr can use Apple's iCloud and CloudKit services to keep your Kithr data available across your Apple devices. When iCloud syncing is used, Apple stores and processes the relevant data as part of its iCloud infrastructure.
Kithr does not operate a separate server containing your people, memories, photos, relationships or other Kithr content, and we cannot access your Kithr database during normal operation.
Apple's own device and iCloud backup services may also retain copies of app data depending on your Apple settings and Apple's services. These backups are operated by Apple rather than Kithr.
4. Contacts and photos
Kithr can import people from Apple Contacts. Importing is initiated by you: you choose which contacts to bring into Kithr.
Where available, imported information may include a person's name, photo, phone numbers, email addresses, birthday and postal address. Kithr creates its own copy of the information you choose to import. It does not continuously synchronise changes back to Apple Contacts or modify your contacts.
Imported information is stored in Kithr in the same way as information you enter manually.
When you choose a profile photo, Kithr uses Apple's photo picker. The image you select is copied into your Kithr data. Kithr does not need to upload your photo to a Kithr server.
5. Locations and Maps
Kithr lets you search for and save meaningful places using Apple's Maps services.
Kithr does not request or use your current GPS location for this feature. You choose the place you want to search for or save.
Searches made through Apple Maps may be processed by Apple under Apple's own privacy terms. A location that you choose to save becomes part of your Kithr data.
6. Kithr AI and Apple Intelligence
On supported devices, Kithr can use Apple's on-device Foundation Models and Apple Intelligence to create concise summaries from information you have saved in Kithr.
A summary is generated only when you ask Kithr to create one. The information used for this feature is processed using Apple's on-device intelligence and is not sent to Kithr, OpenAI, Google, Anthropic or another external AI provider by Kithr for summary generation.
Kithr does not use your people, memories, details or summaries to train AI models.
7. Siri, Spotlight and Shortcuts
Kithr integrates with Apple system features including Siri, Spotlight and Shortcuts. These integrations can make relevant Kithr content or actions available through Apple's system features on your devices.
Kithr uses Apple's frameworks for these integrations and does not send this information through a Kithr-operated server.
8. Actions involving other apps
Some Kithr features let you deliberately pass information to another app or service. For example, you may choose to open an address in Maps, send an email, make a phone call or share information using Apple's sharing features.
When you choose one of these actions, the relevant information is passed to the app or service you selected. The privacy practices of that service then apply.
9. Analytics and diagnostics
Kithr does not include third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. We do not use analytics to monitor the people, memories or other content you keep in Kithr.
Apple may provide developers with aggregated App Store information and crash or diagnostic information where users have chosen to share diagnostics with app developers. That information is provided through Apple's developer services and is subject to Apple's privacy practices.
Kithr does not use your app content to build advertising profiles, track you across other apps or websites, or serve advertising.
10. App Store purchases
Kithr is purchased through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the purchase and payment processing.
Kithr does not directly receive or process your payment card details. Apple may provide us with transaction and sales information through its developer services as part of operating the App Store.
11. The Kithr website
The Kithr website does not use advertising trackers, tracking pixels, third-party analytics or non-essential cookies. We do not use the website to build profiles of visitors or track them across other websites.
The website is hosted using Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes technical information such as IP addresses and web requests where necessary to deliver, secure and operate the website. Cloudflare handles this information under its own privacy terms.
Kithr does not use Cloudflare request information to profile individual website visitors.
The website does not currently contain a contact form, newsletter or marketing mailing-list signup. If you choose to contact us, your email application will send the message to us directly.
12. Sharing and service providers
Kithr does not sell your personal information.
We do not disclose the people, memories, details, photos or other content you store in Kithr to advertising companies, analytics providers, external AI providers or other third-party services.
Kithr does use Apple services to provide features you choose to use, including iCloud and CloudKit, Contacts, Maps, Apple Intelligence, Siri, Spotlight, Shortcuts and the App Store. Apple may process information when providing these services according to Apple's own terms and privacy policy.
Cloudflare provides infrastructure for the Kithr website as described above.
We may also disclose information that Kithr itself holds where we are required to do so by law, or where reasonably necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.
13. Exporting your Kithr data
Kithr provides an Export My Data feature so you can take a copy of the information you have stored in the app.
The export contains your meaningful Kithr data, including your people, details, memories, groups, relationships, contact information, saved locations, favourites and other user-created content. Stored profile images are included as separate image files.
The export is provided as a ZIP archive containing a structured, versioned JSON representation of your Kithr data together with your stored images.
The archive is generated locally on your device. It is not uploaded to Kithr or to a Kithr server. Apple's standard sharing and saving interface lets you decide where the archive goes.
Once you choose to save or share an exported archive outside Kithr, you are responsible for keeping that copy secure and the privacy practices of the destination you select may apply.
14. Editing and deleting your data
You can edit and delete individual people, memories, details and other information within Kithr.
Kithr also provides a Delete All Data option in Settings. After you confirm this action, Kithr deletes your Kithr content, including people, memories, groups, relationships, photos and other stored information. Where that information has been synchronised using iCloud, Kithr also requests deletion of the corresponding synced Kithr data.
Delete All Data is intended to be permanent and cannot be undone through Kithr. After deletion, the app returns to an empty state.
Copies may remain temporarily within Apple's backup or infrastructure systems in accordance with Apple's own retention and backup practices. Kithr does not control those systems.
15. Information you send to us
Because Kithr does not have user accounts and we cannot access your Kithr database, we ordinarily hold very little personal information about you directly.
If you email us for support, with a privacy question or for another reason, we will receive your email address, the contents of your message and any other information you choose to provide.
We use this information to respond to your enquiry, operate and support Kithr, maintain appropriate business records, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations where applicable.
Depending on the circumstances, our lawful basis under UK data protection law may include our legitimate interests in operating and supporting Kithr, taking steps at your request in connection with a purchase or service, or compliance with a legal obligation.
We retain correspondence only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was received, including responding to enquiries, maintaining appropriate business records, resolving disputes and meeting legal obligations.
16. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live and the circumstances, privacy law may give you rights over personal information that Kithr controls. These may include rights to request access, correction, deletion or restriction of your personal information, to object to certain processing, and to receive portable copies of certain information.
You can make a privacy request or raise a data protection complaint by emailing privacy@kithr.app.
Please remember that we cannot retrieve the private content stored in your Kithr app or iCloud database on your behalf because Kithr does not have access to it. You can use the app's own export, editing and deletion features to manage that information.
If you are in the United Kingdom and are unhappy with how we handle your personal information or a privacy complaint, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator.
Users in other countries or regions may have additional rights under their local privacy laws.
17. Security
Kithr is designed to minimise the amount of personal information that needs to leave your devices or reach us. Your relationship data is stored locally and, where you use syncing, through Apple's iCloud infrastructure rather than a Kithr-operated database.
No device, storage system or method of transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You should protect access to your Apple devices, Apple Account and any Kithr data archives you choose to export.
18. Children
Kithr is intended for adults aged 18 and over. It is not designed or directed at children.
19. International availability
Kithr is operated from Scotland, United Kingdom, and may be made available internationally through Apple's App Store.
Apple and Cloudflare operate services internationally and may process information in different countries in accordance with their own privacy terms and applicable legal safeguards.
20. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Kithr develops or if legal requirements change.
If our privacy practices change materially, we will update this policy and provide additional notice where appropriate. The effective date at the top of this page shows when the current version took effect.
